Neuromuscular Dentistry - Providing Pain Relief to our
Sourthern California Patients

Neuromuscular dentistry is the art and science of using the relaxed position of facial muscles to place the jaw in its optimal position. Thirty years of research and clinical trials have shown this TMJ treatment technique to be very effective in eliminating chronic migraines and neck pain. Placing the jaw optimally before performing restorative dentistry also increases the lifetime of any dental work you have, and protects your natural teeth. Dr. Ziv is one of very few dentists accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry who has extensive training and experience in neuromuscular dentistry.

To provide neuromuscular dental treatment your dentist has to have completed many hours of specialized continuing education. Dr Ziv is a Fellow of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and is fully trained in bite correction and full mouth restoration. Neuromuscular dentistry uses computerized instrumentation to measure the patient’s jaw movements and muscle activity. Prior to establishing the correct bite, muscles are relaxed using TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator).

While Dr. Ziv devotes a great deal of his time improving and re-creating smiles, he has an equal passion for helping those with chronic head and neck pain caused by poor occlusion at his Southern California office through his TMJ treatment options.
